Melbourne Grammar School raises another $600
$600 goes a long way towards building desperately needed toilets for the BCA School in Cambodia.
Melbourne Grammar Schools, Grimwade House held a casual clothes day for Humanitus on the 12 September 2009. The students at Grimwade House raised just over $600 for Humanitus which will go towards the building of a much need toilet for the children and local villagers at the Mkak Primary School near Siem Reap in Cambodia.
The Grimwade House children looked amazing as they came to school dressed in the Humanitus colours of green and gold. Leading up to the casual clothes day the children had been submitting ideas to the school about what Humanitus could do to help the children of Sumatra and Cambodia. It was great to read their many ideas such as building cupboards, toilets, and also be able to explain to the students that carpet isn?t a luxury, nor neccessity, that schools can afford in these countries. To be able to raise awareness of Humanitus and the children it helps in developing nations was a very empowering and rewarding experience.
Unfortunately due to some local fundraising obligations the Head of Grimwade, Mr Boyd, has elected to discontinue the schools relationship with Humanitus. We hope that the childrens future fundraising activities will continue to be important life learning experiences for them.
We would like to personally acknowledge and thank the children of Melbourne Grammar Schools Grimwade House for their commitment to this fundraiser and it's ultimate success ... It is wonderful to see Australian children out there trying to make a difference to the lives of children in developing nations.
Grimwade House held their first Humanitus fundraiser back in June 2004 for Rwamwanja School in Uganda. You can read about the fundraiser at the bottom of our 'Past Projects Page'.
Humanitus and the Mkak Primary School would like to thank the students at Melbourne Grammar School for their extraordinary fundraising efforts.
